Shimri Segal

Shimri Segal Joined the Tel Aviv University Law Faculty Workers' Rights Clinic in 2018 as an instructor.

Segal holds an LL.B and a B.A. in Governance (2012) from the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya. Prior to joining the clinic Segal was a fellow in the Herman Schwartz Israel Human Rights Program, where he studied International Human Rights Law and Humanitarian Law at American University Washington College of Law, including Labor and Migration in the Globalized Economy, Sustainable Development and Human Rights, and International Labor and Employment Law. During his fellowship, Segal clerked at SEIU legal department summer program, and worked as a lawyer at ‘Tmura’ – Israel Antidiscrimination Center.

Segal interned at the ‘Knesset’ (Israeli Parliament) legal department (2011-2012), and continued to work at the Knesset as a legal & political advisor to a Member of Knesset (2012-2015). Afterwards, Segal worked with NGO’s, in different capacities, on various issues concerning human & civil rights, and social justice.

 
As part of the TraffLab project, Segal will work with his students in the Workers' Rights Clinic on a number of cases related to the Project research. Thus far, work has begun on an explanatory video clip for Chinese migrant workers in the Israeli construction industry. This is a reaching out project that started as an idea brought up by the Chinese migrant workers community in southern Tel-Aviv, and is meant to inform them of their labor and migrant status rights.
